General topics of discussion on shamanism

  1. I am a 44 years old man, and I am experiencing a massive shamanic awakening in the last few weeks. Im reading books and listening to pods and audios about the topic. But this is not even close to whats going on. I need someone I could safely exchange some personal thoughts with. I want to confirm things and aask for further directions. Will appreciate to be contacted by an exeprienced person who has been into shamanism for a considerable amount of time and who feels a pull of intuition to reply to me with honest willingness to assist. Much appreciated it advance. DB

  2. I saw this documentary on Gaia called: Healing the Luminous Body. There a sacred Dr. by the name of Alberto Villoldo, PhD., introduces and explains the luminous energy field that surrounds and informs our physical body like a blueprint of life. It is a secret of ancient shaman-healers that many of our physical and psychological problems stem from imprints within our luminous body. Dr. Villoldo unveils how to heal and recover from these destructive imprints and regain our physical, mental and spiritual well-being. Join us as we travel to the Andes Mountains to learn the secret of the ancient Shamans, a secret that can lead all of us to health, happiness and beauty. It w…

Greetings to who ever reads this, I always have felt distanced in the modern society as there isn't a place for someone who doesn't seek status or materialism. Where can I find a mentor?, I will travel anywhere.

  4. (Disclaimer - There is no use of, either literal or implied, drugs or violent acts herewithin this story. This story is being shared in a safe space where we Shamans are not judged, and so I will not invade that with anything that may trigger anyone else. In addition, although I do not follow the same path as many here; some being healers, some dreamers, some seekers or makers, mine is my own. But who are we if not open minded? I speak with spirits and follow Northern traditions.) I meant to begin this chapter with a quote, as I did the previous, this time from one of my favorite poets, Robert Frost, but instead I'll hold that quote from that poem back and link t…

I have experienced at least one unwanted telepathy, and have transmitted accidentally as well. What does this mean from a shamanistic perspective? Any psychiatrist would call it psychosis, and I would have but for some evidence that showed up. I kind of want it to stop, but have little time at the moment to dedicate to anything new. I only experienced them once, if that matters.

In my experience I found that among those on their spiritual path there are quite a few that had all sorts of spiritual abilities but were not able to wrest control away from their mind/ego. Being able to do the latter is for me awareness - i.e. awareness of me being aware; for example being able to hear yourself think without being the thinker (Lots of "beings" :-) ). To me this ability seemed to be more important, especialy when applied to wordly encounters or situations -but seemingly impossible to do all the time. A Siberian shaman told me that in his tradition they teach awareness as the third step after first healing and then rituals. How do the Makers teach…

I've read some time ago on this forum, one of our nice teacher telling that when you're travelling geographically you're actually time travelling. Recently I've had to travel a lot by train doing approximately 75 miles in one hour and what I've felt I when I reached the destination, is that i travelled through time. It's something that puzzled me because logically i only changed my physical position and the two places are on the same time zone. And when I arrived to town B I really had the feeling I was in an other time than I was in town A just one hour ago. Einstein and his theory that if you travel at the speed of light you will age less rapidly, it's weird …

I watched this drama unfold three days ago and was looking for other people's opinions on the meaning. There was an eagle that flew overhead, it flew by a field, swooped down, got what looked like a snake, then a bigger eagle knocked into the first one and the snake fell and the bigger eagle landed to eat it, a third eagle flew in and the two flew in circles over the eagle on the ground who was eating. Any insight?

I don't know if there's a technique or teaching from the Maker tradition that can address this but i figure i may as well ask. I learn so much throughout some of my days. Then i go to sleep and i wake up and it's like a total reset. It feels like i've forgotten everything. I usually wake up like... ugh... i don't want to face the day. So it's hard to start my day off on the right foot. Any techniques or advice to deal with this?

Do we unknowingly agree to others intent and if we do how do disengage our energy from being affected or inflicted by anthers intent ? thanks

  13. I have been fortunate enough in this lifetime to get some really clear and good guidance from guides, not super regularly but often enough. However, my guides seldom to never make their identity clearly known. It always just feels like a message from on high. Of course... i would imagine that all guidance emanates from source which is apparently impersonal but on a different plane i'm sure that these guides do have unique personalities. So i am curious how to go about forming closer relationships with my guides. I would like to have a close connection for instance to a power animal. I have journeyed in the past and such. I feel hesitant to journey a bit because i've prob…

I think the people of the ShamansCave will find this quote from Master Li Hongzhi (founder of Falun Dafa) from one of his Buddha Law Lectures very interesting: "The human mind is complex. I’ve spoken with you before about how a person’s brain is merely a processing plant. A person is born from his mother’s womb, with his parents’ flesh and blood, and then grows by consuming earthly foods. And at death, whether he’s buried in the earth or cremated, he turns to dust. The brain itself, strictly speaking, is not the origin of one’s thoughts. Don’t people have a soul? Doesn’t a person’s body also consist of a part that is at various microscopic layers and that is…

Something I have observed over the years is that when I have a profound experience, I have to be very careful about how I share the story of it to other people. Some stories told just the right way in the right context to the right folks feel like I've actually shared the story without diminishing it. But other stories, when I share them, seem to lose their potency for me on a personal level. I find myself wondering if other folks experience this and why such a thing occurs?

It is becoming increasingly obvious to me that the reason humans are so predisposed to shame is intentional - both encoded within our genetic material and reinforced cultural, over time. Shame about our sexuality and desires has been instilled into us to keep us from knowing who we are. It is not just education and culture that should be blamed, but religion and faux spirituality as well - how often do we hear that what is base must be transcended for what is higher, or that individual attributes must be renounced to gain a deeper connection to the whole? Renoucing our nature as physical, human, animal beings does not, in fact, bring us any closer to true self…

Hello Everyone, I would like to mention that I am new to this forum and I feel privileged to be amongst so many knowledgeable people. Just wanted to understand about the hardships and problem one might face in a lifetime. Is it cyclic or its all about the decision we have taken in our lives. Or is it something related to karma, Last few month have been very tough and I have observed that the cycle continues with me no matter what and how I try to improve things around me. This has been life's journey so far. What should be done differently ? thanks Ash

Greetings all. I hope this first post finds you all well, happy, and peaceful. I sought out this forum to engage in some questions to help me figure out this path I have walked for years. I apologize in advance if this post turns out t be to long, but I want to be rather thorough. I will keep it as short as possible however. First off, I am a forty year old man with quite a bit of a "spiritual" education behind me. I do not mention these things to boast, but to give the reader a bit of insight into my question -which will be presented at the end of my post. I am a former Buddhist monk (Ch'an Ssu Lun / Pure Land), Anagarika in Theravada Buddhism (Mahabodhi Maitr…

  20. Hello beautiful souls... So I have written two long posts and deleted them... I have never posted on a forum before and I think I didn't realize I had so much inside I was holding onto.. I suppose that was a good release either way lol... Thank you for having a community like this for those of us struggling on our path.. I am here because I am really hoping for some advice. If asked I can tell you more about me, but basically I have been going through a spiritual awakening for over 5 years, the dark part of it weaving in and out and back again.. I have been single, by stubbornness and choice, moving every few months to another country or state so that I …

I'll be frank here to get to the meat of the subject: I'm blah blah and have been blah blah blah, back a very long time ago, and I think on many things less and less every day over the past twenty years. "Time has a way of taking time" ~ Megadeth. Good quote. What troubles me is a girl I was with last year, and I have no doubt that it will continue to come back on me, as if she's ever found competent to stand trial, I'll surely be called as a witness. I will exercise my Fifth Amendment right and stay silent. This post is about PTSD, and this is why: There is no real, general way to deal with it, and let's be honest - that's a righteous bitch. But it's true…

  22. So recently I tried cleansing a soul fragment of mine by sending it to the galactic core for some clearing, but afterwards my left body started to feel a little empty and dissociative after asking my Higher Self to bring back the “piece”. I read online that the galactic core destroys souls, although im not sure if that counts souls embodying physical bodies. Is it gone forever? My other theory is that it could have been stolen by a negative entity? If that’s the case, are they easy to retrieve back?

The term "ego" is used a few times in articles on this website. What, essentially, is ego? (From a shamanic perspective of course.)
